Crabbing is still going very strong and limits (ten each) are the norm. Remember to bring big coolers or boxes to take your crab home… Oooops!
Got out between storms and nailed the crab to three pounds then went in closer for rockfish and nailed limits for six of blue, olive, copper and a dozen red pacific snapper. GREAT DAY! We have storms until Tuesday. Crabbing is the best I’ve seen in 20 years.
Storm from last night sure did mix up the water so we had a bUmPy ride to the fishing grounds then when the weather settled down even more we ran out to the crab grounds. Full limits again for six anglers of very high quality crab to three pounds.
What a difference a day makes. Storm passed and the water calmed down a lot! Ran out to the crab grounds and nailed limits of crab to three pounds then came in closer to shore for a steady blue and olive pacific snapper bite and a lingcod too.
Storm’s in town but we decided to give it a try for the crab only. Got out to the grounds and it wasn’t easy but we got our crab.
Flat calm water again today and lots of whales around too. Ran out to the crab grounds for limits plus crew limits of BIG dungeness crab to three pounds then headed in closer for the rockfishing. We got into the olive and blue pacific snapper good! Came home with over 150 pounds of meat. Great day with a great group!
Flat calm water today as we head out to our crab gear. Got into the crab and they are BIG! Switched over to local rockfish and the fish were slow to bite due to the big ground swell that arrived this morning.
Another great day of crabbing and fishing for our group of six. Brought home limits of dungeness crab plus crew crab and 3/4 limits of nice pacific snapper. Crab is still going on strong!
Crabbing is still off the charts with limits on every trip. As you may have heard the commercial crab fishery has been postponed until December 15th. So you know, this has no effect on the recreational/sport crabbing that we do. We still get to crab while the commercial boats have to wait for approval from CA Fish & Wildlife. Also so you know, we do not condone what CAFW has done to our commercial crabbing colleagues. We feel it is wrong to lead the commercial people on as if there were no delays then eight hours before the official commercial season opener, place an immediate halt to commercial crabbing. I find it unfair and unacceptable that CAFW, sitting at their desks, can toy with peoples livelihoods without any consequences for their mistakes. This commercial closure, as was last year’s premature closure, was avoidable and caused by CAFW because they failed to do their job. CAFW will still get their paychecks while the families of the crabbers receive nothing. Many hardworking families will suffer needlessly.
Storm has passed but the water was still a wee bit choppy. Took our time and after reaching the crab grounds got our limits then moved in closer to shore for rockfish. We did good with 3/4 limits of olive, blue, canary, brown and red pacific snapper.
Weather has the water a little messed up now but we could still pull the crab pots and fish for the big ones. The crab seemed even bigger today with limits for all six plus crew crab to three pounds! Also brought home lingcod, olive, yellowtail, brown and red pacific snapper.
Wow! Awesome day on the crabbing today with full pots and limits for all plus crew. Yellowtail were biting good today out deep too. Came home with 150 pounds of dungeness and nice yellowtail pacific snapper. We only have a couple seats left in November but December is wide open. Time to book your trip!
Well, the good weather slipped away into our fog today and bumpy seas. That didn’t stop our anglers from heading out to the crab grounds for #150 pounds of crab! Yes, some crew crab were in there too. Then headed out for snapper and brought home quality yellowtail, brown, canary and red pacific snapper. Nice whale encounter by the boat too. Such graceful animals.
Another banner day with limits of jumbo dungeness crab and a box full of lingcod, canary, blue, olive, copper and red pacific snapper. Great haul!
WOW. Another banner day on the water with flat calm seas and crab limits for all plus canary, brown, olive, blue and ten big red (6+ pounds) pacific snapper. Great time!
Perfect water conditions and clear skies made this a very fun and productive trip. We got into the lingcod big time landing 16 and keeping the biggest 11. Also brought home olives, blues, browns, canary and red pacific snapper to five pounds. Great day!
Wonderful day today on flat calm seas. Dungeness crab limits for all plus crew crab then off to catch lingcod, olives, blues and vermilion pacific snapper.
Flat and calm water today with a lot of fog. Fun group with limits of dungeness crab for six and olive, blue, brown and canary rockfish.
Awesome day out here today with zero winds and flat as a pancake seas and lots of crab and fish! Limits of big crab plus lingcod, olive, yellowtail, canary, brown, china, copper, blue, and red pacific snapper for six anglers.
Beautiful day on the bay today with light winds and flat seas and a good whale show. Nailed the jumbo crab today then off to the deep for big fish. Came home with over 200 pounds of dungeness crab, snapper and lingcod for six anglers.
Another awesome day for fishing and crabbing. Perfect water conditions and we got snapper, lingcod, petrale sole and dungeness crab. These crab are big too!
Perfect day for our Jurassic & Crab opener with flat calm seas and mild air temps. Brought in nice crab to 2.5 pounds, lingcod to 14 pounds and big yellowtail snapper. Whale and dolphin shows too!
Picture perfect day today but the fish didn’t want to bite. Came home with a light catch today. Crab starts up next Saturday!
Another gorgeous day on the bay today but still have the ground swell from the storm. Fishing was even slower than yesterday but we did get into some quality size olive, brown and yellowtail. The ground swell is supposed to lift within the next couple days so things will be back to normal.
Gorgeous today with long swells, whales and dolphins around and sunshine all day. Headed out to make bait but sand dabs didn’t bite. Headed out to Deep Reef and the bite was slow. Did manage to get 1/3 limits with canary, boccaccio, olive, yellowtail and red pacific snapper.
Sorry for the lack of fish reports folks! I’ve been on a couple week vacation with my fiancee and haven’t had the right tools for writing the reports. The crew is running the MEGA-BITE and the fish are biting. Sometimes not as much as we’d like to see but most of the time limits. I’ll be back at the wheel October 17th and back in the office so I can write consistent reports. Stay tuned! Remember, crab season starts up November 2nd. Dates are loading up fast!
Another WOW day. 150 pounds of lingcod limits, big rockfish and petrale sole. Happy 85th birthday to Chuck of Sacramento and congratulations on your 23.5 pound Lingcod!
Awesome day for a Jurassic Park run with air temps in the 60’s and 70s and nice water. Picked up our live sand dabs then went and loaded the fish box up with lingcod, petrale sole, yellow tail, canary, and copper pacific snapper.
Much better weather today so ran out to Jurassic Park again and wham! As soon as we dropped in it was game on! Had a blast bringing in near limits of Lingcod to 17 pounds and rockcod including a fat 7 pound red pacific snapper.
Jurassic Park trip today and the weather wasn’t cooperating very well. We did manage seven lingcod but not the number of rockcod we like to see. Water was BuMpY and the wind was fast.
