Crabbing is still going very strong and limits (ten each) are the norm. Remember to bring big coolers or boxes to take your crab home… Oooops!

Got out between storms and nailed the crab to three pounds then went in closer for rockfish and nailed limits for six of blue, olive, copper and a dozen red pacific snapper. GREAT DAY! We have storms until Tuesday. Crabbing is the best I’ve seen in 20 years.

Crabbing is still off the charts with limits on every trip. As you may have heard the commercial crab fishery has been postponed until December 15th. So you know, this has no effect on the recreational/sport crabbing that we do. We still get to crab while the commercial boats have to wait for approval from CA Fish & Wildlife.  Also so you know, we do not condone what CAFW has done to our commercial crabbing colleagues. We feel it is wrong to lead the commercial people on as if there were no delays then eight hours before the official commercial season opener, place an immediate halt to commercial crabbing. I find it unfair and unacceptable that CAFW, sitting at their desks, can toy with peoples livelihoods without any consequences for their mistakes. This commercial closure, as was last year’s premature closure, was avoidable and caused by CAFW because they failed to do their job. CAFW will still get their paychecks while the families of the crabbers receive nothing. Many hardworking families will suffer needlessly.

Yes, some crew crab were in there too. Then headed out for snapper and brought home quality yellowtail, brown, canary and red pacific snapper. Nice whale encounter by the boat too. Such graceful animals.

Sorry for the lack of fish reports folks! I’ve been on a couple week vacation with my fiancee and haven’t had the right tools for writing the reports. The crew is running the MEGA-BITE and the fish are biting. Sometimes not as much as we’d like to see but most of the time limits. I’ll be back at the wheel October 17th and back in the office so I can write consistent reports. Stay tuned! Remember, crab season starts up November 2nd. Dates are loading up fast!
