Another gorgeous day on the bay today but still have the ground swell from the storm. Fishing was even slower than yesterday but we did get into some quality size olive, brown and yellowtail. The ground swell is supposed to lift within the next couple days so things will be back to normal.
Gorgeous today with long swells, whales and dolphins around and sunshine all day. Headed out to make bait but sand dabs didn’t bite. Headed out to Deep Reef and the bite was slow. Did manage to get 1/3 limits with canary, boccaccio, olive, yellowtail and red pacific snapper.
Sorry for the lack of fish reports folks! I’ve been on a couple week vacation with my fiancee and haven’t had the right tools for writing the reports. The crew is running the MEGA-BITE and the fish are biting. Sometimes not as much as we’d like to see but most of the time limits. I’ll be back at the wheel October 17th and back in the office so I can write consistent reports. Stay tuned! Remember, crab season starts up November 2nd. Dates are loading up fast!
Another WOW day. 150 pounds of lingcod limits, big rockfish and petrale sole. Happy 85th birthday to Chuck of Sacramento and congratulations on your 23.5 pound Lingcod!
Awesome day for a Jurassic Park run with air temps in the 60’s and 70s and nice water. Picked up our live sand dabs then went and loaded the fish box up with lingcod, petrale sole, yellow tail, canary, and copper pacific snapper.
Much better weather today so ran out to Jurassic Park again and wham! As soon as we dropped in it was game on! Had a blast bringing in near limits of Lingcod to 17 pounds and rockcod including a fat 7 pound red pacific snapper.
Jurassic Park trip today and the weather wasn’t cooperating very well. We did manage seven lingcod but not the number of rockcod we like to see. Water was BuMpY and the wind was fast.
Fished Davenport again today and had a much more adventurous time. The wind was up and the drift was fast but our fishermen were up to the challenge. We put 38 rock cod on the boat plus 2 nice lings. The rock cod, vermilion, canary, brown, copper, and blue were excellent quality. We caught two of the biggest blues I have seen.
We fished off Davenport today and the fish were waiting. We started immediately pulling blues over the rail two at a time. We got past the blues and into the reds and canaries. As we got close to boat limits we moved out to find lingcod. We pulled up four but not a keeper in the bunch. We finished with six limits of rockfish.
The weather started out great in the morning and after catching our live bait headed out to Jurassic Park. By the time we got there the wind picked up so had to come closer to shore. We fished all down the coast and nailed limits of blue, canary, brown and red pacific snapper and a halibut!
A bit windy and fog today but that didn’t stop our 50th birthday party for Long from going for the big ones! We got our live bait then headed out to Jurassic Park for another lingcod fest and as soon as we dropped in we had a double lingcod hookup. The wind came up so we on;y got another 30 minutes of fishing in before we had to head for calmer water. Came home with lingcod, olive, blue, canary and red pacific snapper and a very happy Long.
Flat water and another 70 degree air temp day for our local potluck trip. Caught snapper limits for all and a couple lingcod. Great holiday weather!
Water was flat as a pancake again for our Jurassic Park trip. Got our live bait then headed for the lingcod. We nailed limits plus crew of lingcod then went for rockcod. The rockcod bite was slow. We did encounter a little issue with what to do with fish if someone wanted to give theirs to someone else on the boat. For lingcod anyway, you cannot have more than two lingcod in your daily possession so… if you already have two lings, you cannot accept lingcod from someone else. Weird law but nevertheless, it’s the law.
Flat as a pancake water with 69 degree air temps made for a great local potluck fishing trip. Fish were a bit shy. Brought home 3/4 limits of nice blue, olive and red pacific snapper.
Another incredibly perfect day at Jurassic Park with temps in the low 70s and 150 pound box of fish! Limits of snapper and limits of Lingcod with biggest two 17 and 18 pounds. What a day!
Run out to Jurassic Park and WHAM! 7 lings for five anglers and a ton of canary, brown, bocaccio, yellowtail, and red pacific snapper. Perfect 65 degrees, flat seas and 150 pounds of fish!
Awesome day at Jurassic Park with perfect 69 degree weather and flat calm seas and lots of fish! 135 pounds of lingcod, canary, yellowtail, green spot, and red pacific snapper. The whale show was pretty nice too!
Nice fishing today with our group from Carmel and Texas. Fished locally and pulled in limits of canary, olive, blue and brown rockfish.
Ran to one of our favorite inshore spots for rock fish in the morning. The fish were not particularly hungry but we persisted and finished one short of limits and threw back several small guys. We landed a soup fin shark, a lingcod, and two china cod. We saw whales feeding and a thresher shark swam close by the boat. The weather was great and a good time was had by all.
The bite was slower today but the quality was really good. We put four lings on, one around twenty pounds, five petrale, and sixteen rockcod. The weather was unusual.. it rained off and on. We also had to contend with a mixed swell.
Picked up dabs and headed to the Jurassic Park. Put 7 lings in then switched to rock cod. Finished with 40.
Went deep. Finished with 5 nice lings, 6 petrale sole, 10 canaries, 26 yellowtail, and 16 others. (Vermilion, brown, copper, widow).
Great fishing yesterday for our visitors from Germany. Got into the yellowtail pretty good along with brown and canary rockfish and lingcod.
What a difference a day makes. Salmon has been spotty so we opted for Jurassic Park instead. The winds were up when we got there and it was hard to get the fish to bite. We got some but not nearly enough that we usually get on these trips. Going to give it a rest for a day and hope the winds come down.
Decided to skip salmon and went for Jurassic Park and sure glad we did. Epic day with limits of Lingcod with a couple going 18 pounds. Then went after the rockcod. Great day and about 140 pounds of fish.
Gorgeous day on the water for our Jurassic Park trip and the fishing was great! After limiting out on Lingcod went to our rockfish honey hole and filled the cooler with yellowtail, canary and brown snapper and a couple petrale soles.
We ran out to one of our favorite local potluck spots only to find the fish were uncooperative. After spending some time trying to wake up the potential fish tacos we ran to an outside spot where we were first entertained by whales then, finally, the bite was on. We finished with crew limits of nice reds, blues, yellow tail, and a seldom seen chili pepper.
Started out with a local potluck trip and after an hour of small fish we decided to upgrade to Jurassic Park. Good thing we did because it was game on with non-stop big fish coming up. Nice lingcod, canary, green spot, yellowtail and red pacific snapper. Great time, flat calm water and 72 degree air temp all day.
Great 70 degree weather today and flat calm seas for Papa and his three little grandsons on our local potluck trip. Kids got real busy with non-stop fishing. Caught 100 fish but only kept the best for limits plus crew limits.
Jurassic Park trip today and after catching our sand dabs for bait we started hooking up fish as soon as we dropped in our lines. Looked like another wild and productive day for MEGA-BITE. After boating a few lings things got quiet. Real quiet. We tried everything and everywhere we could to get the bite going again.
